Sprouted is the professional endeavor of Philip Dow, founded in 2007 to facilitate the development of its then central product, Journler.
In early 2011 it was announced that Journler would be open sourced. Since then Sprouted has begun offering additional products and is expanding its business to include Mac and iOS consultancy and development services.

The latest version of Per Se includes a number of changes under the hood and a great new look. Among the most significant changes are Lion compatibility, password protection, improved stability and last edited and word count tracking.
As promised in early 2011 the Journler code base is now open source. The entire Journler project, including the core code and the Sprouted frameworks used in the application are available for download.
