Per Se 1.0.1 Update Available for Download
July 20th, 2011Per Se v1.0.1 is here! Waiting for Mac OS Lion to finish downloading? Grab the latest version of Per Se and be ready to journal with your newly updated Mac!
The update includes a number of changes under the hood and a great new look. Among the most significant are:
- Mac OS Lion compatibility
- Improved stability and other important fixes
- Password protection
- Improved user interface
- Last edited and word count tracking
- Additional preferences and shortcuts for paging through the journal
Per Se v1.0.1 is for Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard and Mac OS 10.7 Lion. The update is free for all currently registered users.
Most Mac applications have a menu choice, often including Preference settings, to check for updates. That would be a useful addition to Per Se. As it is, users must manually visit the Per Se site repeatedly to discover when an update is available.
Alternatively, users could subscribe to a Per Se email newsletter that would inform them when an update was available.

Definitely. There is a 3rd party framework called Sparkle just for this. I’ll see about adding it into one of the maintenance updates soon.
I’d never thought about a newsletter. I always figured folks would be reluctant to sign up for another email list, but it might not be a bad idea to provide the option for it.

I was wondering about this last night Phil. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an app without it before, I just somehow figured it came with some kind of basic template for creating an app…although that probably doesn’t exist!
I’d happily sign up for a newsletter. I’m always fine with it considering my address doesn’t go anywhere else and the site sends me related emails.
